Upon reaching the surface, these signals are confidently reflected back along the probe, where our advanced instruments receive them. Thanks to unique equivalent sampling technology, the time lapse between pulse emission and reception is meticulously converted into the precise distance from the instrument's reference point to the material surface. This state-of-the-art method, known as TDR Time Domain Reflectometry, guarantees a level measurement accuracy that sets industry standards.

· Usually, cable probes are used to measure solid particles, and rod probes are only suitable for measuring light solid particles with good fluidity in small ranges (about 4m);
· Rod or coaxial rod probes are usually used to measure small range of liquids. Cable probes are used to measure liquids with a range greater than 4m or in situations where rigid probes cannot be installed on the top space;
· The coaxial rod probe can measure the viscosity of liquids up to 500cst, the coaxial rod probe can measure liquefied gas, the nozzle and the internal structure of the material tank have no effect on the measurement;
· When used for measuring the material level of large bins, the cable probe should be equipped with a plastic sheath to maintain the seal and prevent the cable from breaking due to side pressure;
· Corrosive media should be selected for corrosion protection;
· When the measured medium is a very loose material, it can be classified as a class with low dielectric constant;
· The maximum range of the instrument will be reduced due to the influence of working conditions, such as: very loose surface material, adhesion caused by wet medium.

Selection guide

· Discover the versatility of the MPS3300 Horn Antenna Pulse Radar, expertly engineered for tough conditions. Perfect for measuring strong corrosive liquids, slurries, and other media in storage and process containers. Ideal applications include water liquid storage tanks, acid and alkali storage, and slurry storage tanks, adaptable according to the horn aperture.1) For class A medium, opt for a waveguide with a substantial 20m range for optimal performance.

· The MPS3700 Series Pulse Radar is exceptionally suited for measuring solid levels in large-range process containers. Its adaptability to different antenna openings makes it ideal for applications like coke level measurement, slurry storage tanks, and even solid particles.



Measuring condition
• Begin your measurement journey from where the beam initially strikes the tank's bottom. Note the limitations: for disc-bottom tanks or tanks with conical discharge ports, levels below this starting point remain unmeasurable.
• For media with low dielectric constants (Class A and B), ensure accuracy by avoiding low-level measurements (Zone C). Set the zero point at a safe distance from the tank's bottom, as depicted in the diagram, to maintain precision.
• Push the boundaries with a theoretical measurement range extending to the antenna's end. However, account for corrosion and adhesion by maintaining a minimum distance A between the range's end and the antenna's top, especially during condensation.
Minimum measurement range B is a function of your selected antenna type (see detailed table below).
Ensure optimal tank dimensions: the tank's diameter must exceed D, with a minimum height of H, as specified in the accompanying table for best results.

· Influence of gas phase
When steam blankets the liquid surface, its high pressure can retard signal transmission speeds. This effect is steam-type dependent and is notably pronounced in colder environments. As the distance from the measurement zero point (flange) to the material surface grows, so does the error margin, as detailed in the table below.
