Measuring Principle
The cutting-edge MGS Series Guided Wave Radar Level Meters are sophisticated "top-down" instruments harnessing the advanced Time of Flight (ToF) measurement principle. By emitting high-frequency pulse signals, these meters track their journey along the probe until they encounter the material surface, reflecting back to the device. With our exclusive equivalent sampling technology, the time taken for these signals to return is precisely converted into the measurement of the distance from the instrument's reference point to the material surface. This innovative method, Time Domain Reflectometry (TDR), ensures unparalleled accuracy and reliability in level measurement.

Import
The echo pulse signal travels from the probe straight to the instrument's electronic unit where the microprocessor performs an intricate analysis to distinguish the authentic level echo signal. This identification is achieved through intelligent software, ensuring impeccable accuracy. The measurement distance D correlates directly with the pulse travel time t, adhering to the equation: D=c * t / 2, where c represents the speed of light. Given the known tank height E, the level L is deduced as L = E-D, providing precise measurement insights. Reference the diagram on the right for the empty tank height E.


Output
Tailored to field conditions, the Mgs Series Guided Wave Radar Transmitter is expertly set to adapt seamlessly to various applications. By configuring parameters such as the zero point for an empty tank and full scale for a full tank, the instrument aligns perfectly with your measurement needs. Output is modulated to 4~20mA based on the user's specified range, and seamless communication is facilitated through the HART protocol.

· Usually, cable probes are used to measure solid particles, and rod probes are only suitable for measuring light solid particles with good fluidity in small ranges (about 4m);
· Rod or coaxial rod probes are usually used to measure small range of liquids. Cable probes are used to measure liquids with a range greater than 4m or in situations where rigid probes cannot be installed on the top space;
· The coaxial rod probe can measure the viscosity of liquids up to 500cst, the coaxial rod probe can measure liquefied gas, the nozzle and the internal structure of the material tank have no effect on the measurement;
· When used for measuring the material level of large bins, the cable probe should be equipped with a plastic sheath to maintain the seal and prevent the cable from breaking due to side pressure;
· Corrosive media should be selected for corrosion protection;
· When the measured medium is a very loose material, it can be classified as a class with low dielectric constant;
· The maximum range of the instrument will be reduced due to the influence of working conditions, such as: very loose surface material, adhesion caused by wet medium.

Measuring Condition
• Measurement Range Insights: The precise range begins where the beam touches the tank's base. Note that in disc-bottom or cone-discharge tanks, levels below this point remain unmeasurable, emphasizing the need for accurate setup.
• Media with Low Dielectric Constant: For Class A and B media, when at lower levels (as illustrated in figure C), the tank bottom becomes visible. Adjusting the zero-point measurement away from the tank base enhances precision, as advised for optimal performance.
• Theoretical Measurement Range: Capable of reaching the instrument antenna's end, factoring in corrosion and adhesion effects. Maintain a safe distance from the antenna's top, especially when condensation is possible, ensuring consistent accuracy.
Minimum Measurement Range: Factor B depends on the chosen antenna type, as detailed in the accompanying table, for precise and informed device selection.
Tank Specifications: To ensure accurate measurements, the tank diameter should exceed D, and the height should meet or exceed H, as detailed in the provided specifications table.
