Function and measurement system
measuring principle
The MPS3000 series pulse radar level meters are "overhead" measurement systems based on the time-of-flight principle. This instrument measures by emitting a 1mW micro-power microwave pulse from the radar antenna (for example, a 26G frequency radar, which sends a △t-1nS pulse with a 26GHz sine wave signal). The pulse travels through space at the speed of light and reaches the surface of the medium being measured. Part of its energy is reflected back and received by the same antenna. The time interval between the emitted and received pulses is proportional to the distance from the antenna to the surface of the medium.

The antenna receives microwave pulse signals reflected from the material surface and transmits them to the electronic component. The microprocessor processes the signal, identifying the echo generated by the microwave pulse on the material surface. Accurate echo signal recognition is completed by intelligent software, with precision reaching the millimeter level. The measurement distance D is proportional to the time travel t of the pulse:

According to the field conditions, the instrument can automatically adapt to the measurement environment by inputting the empty tank height (zero point), full tank height (full scale) and setting the application parameters.
The 4-20mA output is calibrated according to the user's range setting. Communication can be carried out through HART protocol.

·MPS3000 series pulse radar level meters are used for continuous level measurement of liquids, slurries and solids. The actual usable measurement range depends on the antenna size, medium reflectivity, instrument installation position and possible interference reflection.

·MPS3100 Rod antenna pulse radar is mainly used for the measurement of corrosive liquids, slurries and other media in storage containers or process containers, such as: water storage tanks, acid and alkali storage tanks, slurry storage tanks, etc.

measuring condition
• The measurement range starts from the point where the beam touches the bottom of the tank. Especially when the storage tank is a disc-bottom tank or the tank body adopts a conical discharge port, the level below this point cannot be measured.
• For media with low dielectric constant (Class A and Class B), if the medium is at a low level (entering the right figure C), the bottom of the tank can be seen. Measurement in this range will reduce the measurement accuracy, so it is recommended to set the measurement zero point at the position of C away from the bottom of the tank (as shown in the figure).
• The theoretical measurement range can reach the end of the instrument antenna. Considering the influence of corrosion and adhesion, the distance between the end of the measurement range and the top of the antenna should be at least A (as shown in the figure). In particular, special attention should be paid when condensation occurs.
Minimum measurement range B is related to the selected antenna type (see table below).
The diameter of the tank shall be greater than D (as shown in the table below), and the height of the tank shall be at least H (as shown in the table below).

· Influence of gas phase
When steam is present on the liquid surface, high pressure will slow down the transmission speed of the signal. This effect is related to the type of steam and is particularly prominent in low temperature environment. When the distance between the measurement zero point (flange) and the material surface increases, the measurement error caused by this effect increases. The measurement error caused by this effect is shown in the following table.
