· Usually, cable probes are used to measure solid particles, and rod probes are only suitable for measuring light solid particles with good fluidity in small ranges (about 4m);
· Rod or coaxial rod probes are usually used to measure small range of liquids. Cable probes are used to measure liquids with a range greater than 4m or in situations where rigid probes cannot be installed on the top space;
· The coaxial rod probe can measure the viscosity of liquids up to 500cst, the coaxial rod probe can measure liquefied gas, the nozzle and the internal structure of the material tank have no effect on the measurement;
· When used for measuring the material level of large bins, the cable probe should be equipped with a plastic sheath to maintain the seal and prevent the cable from breaking due to side pressure;
· Corrosive media should be selected for corrosion protection;
· When the measured medium is a very loose material, it can be classified as a class with low dielectric constant;
· The maximum range of the instrument will be reduced due to the influence of working conditions, such as: very loose surface material, adhesion caused by wet medium.

1. The top blind area refers to the minimum distance between the highest material surface and the measurement reference point; 2. The bottom blind area refers to the distance near the bottom of the probe that cannot be measured accurately;

Selection guide

· The MPS3300 Horn Antenna Pulse Radar is a versatile solution designed for challenging environments. It excels in the measurement of liquids, slurries, and other media within storage or process containers, even under strong corrosive conditions. It is perfect for applications such as water liquid storage tanks, acid and alkali storage, and slurry storage tanks.1) For Class A medium applications, please opt for the waveguide with a 20m range for optimal performance.

· The MPS3700 Series Pulse Radar is engineered for precision in measuring solid levels within process containers over large ranges. It is adaptable to varying antenna opening sizes for diverse applications, including coke levels, slurry storage tanks, and solid particle measurements.



Measuring condition
• Measurement begins where the radar beam first interacts with the tank bottom. For disc-bottom or conical discharge tanks, areas below this point remain unmeasured, ensuring accuracy where it's needed most.
• For media with low dielectric constants (Class A and B), when the medium level is low (as depicted in figure C), the tank bottom becomes visible. To maintain measurement precision, it is advisable to set the zero point at a distance from the tank bottom, as illustrated in the diagram.
• The theoretical measurement range extends to the instrument antenna's tip. However, to counteract possible corrosion and adhesion effects, ensure the range's end is at least distance A from the antenna's top. This precaution is crucial in condensation-prone environments.
The minimum measurement range B is contingent upon the chosen antenna type. Refer to the table below for detailed specifications.
Ensure the tank diameter exceeds D, and the tank height meets or surpasses H, as specified in the table below, to optimize measurement accuracy.

· Influence of gas phase
The presence of steam above the liquid surface, especially under high pressure, can decelerate signal transmission. This phenomenon is steam type-dependent and significantly affects low-temperature settings. As the distance between the measurement zero point (flange) and material surface increases, so does the measurement error. The following table details these measurement discrepancies.
